Is the Outer Banks Motor Lodge on the ocean?
Yes, our property is an oceanfront property. We have oceanfront rooms that face the ocean and we also have poolside rooms that are closer to the pool, do not face the ocean, but are just a few steps from the sand and the ocean. If you want an oceanfront room, be sure to reserve a room that says it is "oceanfront" when you make your reservation.
What town is the Outer Banks Motor Lodge located in?
We are centrally located at mile post 9.5 on the Beach Road (South Virginia Dare Trail), in Kill Devil Hills, NC, very close to the Nags Head town line.
Do you allow pets?
We only have 4 rooms that are pet friendly, to reserve one of our pet rooms, be sure the description of the room says "pet friendly". Our oceanfront rooms are not pet friendly. If you need a pet friendly room, it is best to call the motel to be sure you get the room you need.
Is there a pet fee?
Yes, we have an additional $25 per night pet fee.
Do you have on site guest laundry?
Yes, we have a guest laundry area with coin operated washer and dryer for guest's convenience.
Do all of your rooms have kitchenettes?
No, not all of our rooms have kitchenettes. If you would like a kitchen, be sure to reserve a room that is an "efficiency". An efficiency room has a refrigerator, microwave, induction cooktop, toaster and coffee pot. Our coffee pots are the Mr. Coffee filter type pots. If your room is not an efficiency it will still have a mini refrigerator, a microwave and a coffee pot for your convenience.
We have seen lots of photos of wild horses on the Outer Banks. Do you have horses on your beaches?
The famous Outer Banks horses are kept safe up on the northern beach area in Carova, about 45 minutes north of us. That area is a 4 wheel drive only area. Visitors to that area need to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. For more information on the wild horses visit: https://www.corollawildhorses.com/
Do you have an elevator to get to the second floor?
No, unfortunately we do not have an elevator. Our poolside rooms are all on the ground level, but our oceanfront rooms do have a 1st floor (ground level) and a 2nd floor. There is a set of steps up to the second floor.
Can I choose the room number that I want?
We cannot guarantee any specific room number. We do allow guests to let us know if they have a preferred room number, we will note that on their reservation and attempt to accommodate the request, but we cannot guarantee it.
Do you provide breakfast?
We do not offer breakfast to our guests, we simply do not have a public area large enough to set up for breakfast. Many of our rooms have kitchenettes and guests choose to make their own breakfast, and all rooms have microwaves. If you rather go out for breakfast, just across the street is Miller's Seafood and Steakhouse which also opens for breakfast from 7am until noon. Starbuck's, 7-11, Duck Donuts, Jolly Roger's and Stack 'em High Pancakes are all very close for either a quick cup of coffee or a full breakfast.
What can you recommend we do or see while on the Outer Banks?
Wright Brothers Memorial, Jockey's Ridge State Park, Jennette's Pier, NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island, Elizabeth Gardens, The Lost Colony, Island Farms, Bodie Island, Currituck or one of the other lighthouses, Manteo Waterfront, The Whalehead Club and the shops along the Duck Waterfront are just some of the unique adventures offered on the Outer Banks. Some guests just prefer to relax and soak up the sun and the beach.
